Backyard Basketball 2007 is finally, completely, and utterly finished. This project was 12 months of work crammed into 6 months of production. I think in terms of actual working hours converted to business hours, I put in probably around 10 months of work. But you know what? Despite my occasional doubts, it was totally worth it. The financial boost it gave 803 has given me the opportunity to try new things this year. It has also given the new game company an air of validity. But I was not the only one that benefitted. It has helped my former partners finally reach new levels that I think have always been possible for them. It was a grueling gauntlet physically and mentally. Fortunately, I shed most of my crunch time weight off the past couple of weeks. The mental part? I'm not so sure...

Blast Off Games is in the process of signing another development contract. BUT this time it isn't doing yet another sports game and it isn't on a tight and unreasonable deadline. If it were either of those things, I wouldn't have considered it for a second. I'll be making a game application framework/engine that runs primarily on set top digital cable boxes. I'll also be porting some existing games to the new framework. I've got quite a few years experience in doing this type of work and I think it's really going to be fun. I plan on it being a nights/weekends part time venture while I move forward with going fulltime with Blast Off. I was starting to get nervous about getting the media blasting business generating revenue quickly. But this definitely takes the pressure off.

2007 is going to be pretty cool, indeed.
