It's All About The Merch

The entry before this one was Just When I Thought I Was Out.... and the next one is The Man's Currency: Contracts.

I need some cool t-shirts to work in. I also wanted to print up a bunch of extra to give to clients and possibly sell a couple once in a while. I tried hiring an artist to because I liked his automotive art style. I pretty much gave him free reign on making a concept for me. I made some suggestions to stoke the fire a little, but I was pretty clear about how he could do whatever he wanted. He sounded interested and told me he would get back to me in a week or so. I never heard from him again. So much for trying to support the arts! Anyway, I used to dabble in the design of graphics many careers ago and I decided to try my hand. My goal was to try and tie in the vintage look of my logo with a 50's style advertisement. Here's what I got...

I like it! I started with a photograph of a '53 Chevy. I changed the look of it and twiddled the levels in GIMPshop before bringing it into Inkscape to vectorize it and lay in the other elements. It will be going black and navy blue shirts for this first run. I wanted to do a reddish/maroon shirt, but it put me out of budget.
