Today, I buffed and polished the fenders. The clear coat leveled out pretty nicely. I also sprayed the inside of the fenders with rubberized undercoating. Finally, I ran the new wiring harness to the new lights and attached the new safety chains. I hooked it up to my truck and tested all the light functions. Thankfully, they all worked on the first try!
Counting the new wheels and tires, we put about $200 and 20 hours into re-doing this thing. Overall, it looks much better than it did. I even think in a lucky coincidence the fenders will match the owner's blue truck pretty closely. I hope it holds up to the elements OK since I know it will spend the rest of its life outside. I learned some good lessons on this project- which was kind of the point!
