Playtime Is Over
The entry before this one was California Love and the next one is Ups and Downs.
I have had an incredible past couple of weeks. I think it's mostly credited to a conscious effort to relax my self imposed pressure to be constantly working and productive. It's something I've struggled with for several years. But I was somewhat inspired after reading 4-Hour Workweek. For some time now, I hated taking vacations because I felt like I was falling behind. But for no particular reason and with no real effort, I just let go of it. As a result, I have thoroughly enjoyed life. The past couple of days were the crescendo and a perfect exclamation point to my summer and taking break from the grind.
But it was only a break.
My trip to San Diego was primarily a business visit with my primary customer for the game development stuff. I worked on site for a few days and we discussed future work. Basically, they want to keep Blast Off's services available to them through the end of 2008. Which is really excellent news for my little company. The only problem is my productivity needs to increase on the current game project about 150%. All of this has forced a decision that I knew was coming eventually- I've got to stop media blasting. I'm going to try to find someone to do the work and keep it going. I also have some ideas to leverage the work I've put into it. But if none of that pans out, the equipment will be stored and business suspended.
I'm still going to continue to be more social than I have been in the past- because it makes me happy. It's just time to buckle down and crunch for a little bit during business hours.
