New Site Design

The entry before this one was Technolust Subsided... for now and the next one is Bailey.

Hey if you're reading this from a RSS feed reader, you might want to take a second to check out my new site design. I've got a new logo and a new layout. It's the first redesign since I launched the site and I decided it was a good way to spend a freezing, rainy weekend indoors. All of the code was written from scratch by me using PHP, CSS, and a smidge of Javascript. I made the logos and artwork using Inkscape and GIMP 2.

I decided that I generate enough content through various means that a lot of people don't see or know about. I also took this time to try out Del.icio.us and Twitter. I like what Twitter adds to the site. Getting the Blackberry has enabled me to update on the go with pictures and text pretty easily as well. Del.icio.us finally gives me a way of posting links with some personal notes attached to them but I may take the dedicated section down and just share those links to my "Shared News" section. If the Amazon Reading List section keeps lagging my page load, I may pull it down as well.

I'm still tidying up and massaging MovableType while I figure out how the blog works with all of this stuff. I'll probably ditch the built-in commenting system and go with a 3rd party solution to allow commenting on non-blog items and hopefully cut out comment spam. Anybody want a t-shirt with that new logo on it? I sure do!
