Who we are

screwtheman.com is run by one person in Australia. It is not a company, it does not charge for anything, and there is nothing to buy here.

For anything on this page, email help@screwtheman.com.

What we collect

Email address. Given when you join the newsletter or ask us to track a dispute, so we can send you the weekly email and deadline reminders.

Dispute details. The company you are disputing with, what happened, and the letter generated for you. This is needed to produce the letter and to track the deadline.

Wins you submit. Your chosen handle, the amount, and the company. These are published publicly on the win wall — that is the point of submitting one.

Usage data. Vercel Analytics counts page views without cookies or cross-site tracking. We also record which pages and tool steps get used, in our own database, so we can tell what is worth building.

IP addresses. Your IP is used to rate limit forms, so one person cannot flood them. For letters, advice, feedback and movements it is held in memory for that check and then discarded — never written down. For submitted wins it is stored only as a one-way cryptographic hash, which cannot be turned back into your address. We never store a readable IP address.

What we do with it

Each thing above is used for one purpose, and only that purpose:

  • Your email, to send the weekly email and any deadline reminders you asked for.
  • Your dispute details, to generate your letter and track the deadline on it.
  • Your win, to publish it on the win wall — which is why you submitted it.
  • Usage data, to work out which parts of the site are worth improving.
  • IP addresses, to rate limit forms.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

Who else sees it

Running the site means a handful of companies necessarily handle the data. They process it for us and nothing else:

  • Vercel — hosting and privacy-friendly page analytics. United States.
  • Supabase — the database and file storage where wins, disputes and email addresses live. Stored in South Korea.
  • Resend — sends the emails.
  • Buffer — schedules our own social posts. It never receives your information.

Two of those store data outside Australia, which we are telling you because you are entitled to know before you hand anything over.

How long we keep it

Plainly: indefinitely, until you ask us to delete it. There is no automatic expiry on email addresses, dispute details, letters or published wins.

One thing worth being explicit about: if you unsubscribe, we add your address to a suppression list and keep it there. That is how we know never to email you again — deleting it outright would mean a later import could reach you by accident. Ask us to erase it entirely and we will, and you may hear from us again if you ever sign up afresh.

Getting your data, or getting it deleted

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email help@screwtheman.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Newsletter emails carry an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops the emails immediately.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to us first, and then to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
