Telco & internet disputes
Where to escalate
Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO)
Phone and internet providers are expected to bill accurately, deliver the service actually sold to you, and properly investigate faults rather than just reissuing the same bill. A provider that will not explain a charge, will not fix a persistent fault, or will not let you exit a contract for a service that was never delivered as promised, is not the end of the road.
The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) is the free, independent complaints body for telco disputes. It can direct a provider to correct a bill, fix or credit for a faulty service, or release you from a contract, and providers take TIO complaints seriously since each one carries a cost to them.
